How Can You Help?

Plan to Get Involved in an Upcoming “Every Dog Has A Day" Event

"Every Dog Has A Day" has two main purposes:

1)  To more quickly replace retiring K9s Purchase:

Currently there are five K9s in service at the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. While some are new to the force, like Rudy, others are getting close to retirement. Community contributions would make it possible to replace retired K9s sooner and possibly increase the size of the K9 Unit. As Tucson and the surrounding community continues to grow, the need for these dogs’ special skills will only increase, this means that a larger portion of the Sheriff’s Department’s budget will have to be earmarked for K9 care and training.

2)  To purchase more equipment for the K9 Unit:

Equipment used by the K9 Unit varies from tools used to train the dogs to those used in the field. Equipment that increases the safety of the K9s and their Handlers is always a priority. Equipment technology is improving at fast rate but the budgets to purchase these items are not increasing. This fund could help bridge the gap between the meeting the Unit’s basic needs to equipping them with tools that will enhance the Unit’s training and effectiveness.
